Service Description

Come celebrate Computer Science Education Week at Keiki & the Pineapple on December 7th at 9:30am. Keiki ages 3-7 are invited to participate in an Hour of Code with STEAM Educator and author Dr. Amanda Sullivan, Ph.D! She will introduce young children to concepts of coding through an hour of fun and interactive coding and robotics games - all inside and 100% screen-free! Kids will even get the chance to use the KIBO Robotics Kit from KinderLab Robotics and other screen-free robots. All keiki will leave with an official Hour of Code certificate, stickers, and opportunities for parents to take pictures of their robotics projects. Adults are welcome to sit back and watch while they sip on coffee or participate in all activities! At the end of the Hour of Code we will have a raffle and one child will win a copy of the ScratchJr Coding Cards: Creative Coding Activities for Children Ages 5-7 developed by Amanda Sullivan, and one adult will win a copy of Amanda's book Breaking the STEM Stereotype: Reaching Girls in Early Childhood. This is a completely FREE event. We just ask for a $15 deposit that can be used towards food and drink (to prevent no-shows).
